A quick guide to embedding a live testimonial widget on Wix - with or without Velo.
Wix has built-in testimonial elements, but they're static - you add quotes manually and update them by hand. For a dynamic, auto-updating testimonial section, you'll want an external widget.
Here's how to set it up in under 5 minutes.
Method 1: Embed HTML Widget (Recommended)
Step 1. Get your testimonial widget code from a tool like Quoted:
<script src="https://quoted.love/widget.js" data-project="your-slug" defer></script>
Step 2. Open the Wix Editor. Navigate to the page where you want testimonials.
Step 3. Click the + (Add Elements) button in the left sidebar.
Step 4. Select Embed Code → Embed HTML.
Step 5. An HTML block appears on your page. Click "Enter Code."
Step 6. Select the Code tab. Paste your widget code.
Step 7. Click "Update." Resize the block as needed.
Step 8. Publish your site.
Important: Wix HTML embeds run in an iframe. The widget should work fine, but the height might need adjustment. Set the iframe height to at least 400px for a carousel, or taller for grid/wall layouts. You may need to experiment with the size.
Method 2: Wix Built-in Testimonials
Wix has native testimonial components:
- Click + → Interactive → Testimonials
- Choose a template style
- Edit the text, name, and photo for each testimonial
- Style it to match your brand
Pros: Native to Wix. No code. Looks consistent with your theme.
Cons: Completely manual. No collection form. No automatic updates. Adding a new testimonial means opening the editor and republishing.
Method 3: Wix App Market
Search the Wix App Market for "testimonials." Options include:
- FLAVOR Testimonials - slider with manual entry
- Social Reviews - displays Google/Facebook reviews
- POWr Testimonials - customizable slider
Pros: More features than the built-in component.
Cons: Many are paid. Quality varies. Some add branding or ads on free plans.
Which Method to Choose
If you're collecting testimonials from clients and want them to appear automatically - Method 1 (embed widget) is the way to go. You get a collection form, moderation, and automatic updates.
If you have 3-5 testimonials that never change - Method 2 (built-in) is fine.
If you mainly want to display Google Reviews on Wix - use an app from Method 3 that connects to your Google Business Profile.
Wix-Specific Tips
Iframe height. Wix HTML embeds use iframes. If testimonials get cut off, increase the iframe height in the embed settings.
Mobile view. After adding the widget, switch to Mobile Editor and check that it looks good. You may need to resize the HTML block for mobile separately.
Placement. Add the testimonial section as a full-width strip for the best appearance. Go to the strip settings and set it to "Full Width" so the widget has room to breathe.
Performance. Wix sites can be slow with many third-party elements. A lightweight external widget (under 15KB, async loading) is better for performance than a heavy Wix app.
